First-time setup

macOS Gatekeeper may block the installer. These four steps take about a minute.

Open Terminal

Press ⌘ + Space and type Terminal, then hit Enter.

Go to Downloads

cd ~/Downloads

Allow the installer

Copy and paste this command in Terminal, then press Enter:

xattr -cr InsertKit-macos.dmg

Install the app

Double-click InsertKit-macos.dmg and drag InsertKit into Applications.

Automatic updates

The Mac app updates itself. When a new version is ready, InsertKit prompts you to install and restart — no need to download the .dmg again.

System requirements

InsertKit needs a recent macOS and two privacy permissions:

  • macOS 11.0 (Big Sur) or later
  • Apple Silicon (M1–M4) or Intel — universal binary
  • Accessibility permission (for paste and snippets)
  • Input Monitoring permission (for “/” trigger detection)

After the first launch, grant Accessibility and Input Monitoring in System Settings → Privacy & Security. That is required for snippet expansion and voice typing.
